Paracuellos explores the lives of young children during Post Civil War in Spain throughout different Social Aid "Homes" where the experiences left the children psychologically scarred. This graphic novel is written by Carlos Gimenez as an autobiography to critique the Franco regime in Spain. During this bloody time, Social Aid homes were created due to the amount of poor and recently orphaned children, the lack of resources at home or due to ill mothers unable to care for the children. . Being a victim of violence at a young age transforms a person. Views on the world and identity become altered due to trauma which leads to a motivation to project one's voice. In this poster the themes of trauma, helplessness and corruption will be explored.
