Creating a culture of sustainable transportation in the United States and abroad is important for energy conservation. In contrast to the United States, Germany and other European countries have made great advancements in this field. The United States' expansive highway network and reliance on automobiles for transportation make implementing modes of sustainable transportation difficult, but not impossible. The United States must learn from European countries such as Germany and Denmark, that sustainable transportation systems can be implemented over time, through changes in policy and infrastructure.
